Components
Datasets are composed of components, which represent the contents of a data provision. Components are links to other elements such as objects (data objects and business objects), attributes (technical attributes and business attributes), relationships (technical relationships and business relationships), data types (technical data types and data domains), measures, dimensions, indicators as well as to other datasets.
Add components
Components are specified in a data catalog in the subpanel of a dataset or subdataset.

A new component is added by clicking the tab "components" and the icon "+" (or by selecting "Add Component..." in the menu).

It is mandatory to select an element from a model. In addition, a label, an order, and a title can be specified. The component may be qualified as "Filter" or "Group", if required.
If no label is explicitly specified, the label of the selected element is automatically used.
Clicking "Add" creates the component.
Components can also be created by duplicating other components.
Edit components
Quick edit
A component is edited in the subpanel of the dataset, by clicking the edit icon (or by selecting "Edit Component" in the menu) next to the component.

The quick edit mode allows the modification of the most frequently used input fields.

The icons in the lower left corner of the edit view allow further settings to be made:
- Clicking
marks the element as favorite.
- Clicking
marks the element as locked.
- Clicking
marks the element as read-only.
Clicking "Save" applies the changes.
A component can be deleted in the subpanel of the dataset, by selecting "Delete Component" in the menu next to the component.
Detailed edit
A component is edited in the main panel of the component, by clicking the edit icon (or by selecting "Edit Component" in the menu).

The detailed edit mode allows the modification of all standard input fields. Additional, customer-specific fields can be added using annotations and will then also appear in the edit mode.

The icons in the lower left corner of the edit view allow further settings to be made:
- Clicking
marks the element as favorite.
- Clicking
marks the element as locked.
- Clicking
marks the element as read-only.
Clicking "Save" applies the changes.
A component can be deleted in the main panel of the component, by selecting "Delete Component" in the menu.
Order components
The sorting of the components is determined by their order (if present). This order can be assigned manually during editing. Alternatively, in the subpanel of the dataset, it is possible to arrange the components and assign their order automatically.

Selecting "Order Components..." in the menu opens a dialog, where the components can be rearranged with the mouse using "drag and drop".

Clicking "Save" applies the changes and reassigns the order automatically.
If required, it is possible to specify that automatic ordering should start at a certain number.
