Distributions

Distributions represent individual data publications. They document how often and in what formats data usage was published, and illustrate the distribution of datasets across the enterprise.

Note

Contrary to datasets, it is not possible to define distributions for subdatasets.

Add distributions

Distributions are specified in a data catalog in the subpanel of a dataset.

New

A new distribution is added by clicking the tab "Distributions" and the icon "+" (or by selecting "Add Distribution..." in the menu).

Add

It is mandatory to assign a label and a format to the distribution. In addition, the exact URL and the actual data size can be specified.

Clicking "Add" creates the distribution.

Tooltip

Distributions can also be created by duplicating other distributions.

Edit distributions

A distribution is edited in the subpanel of the dataset, by clicking the edit icon (or by selecting "Edit Distribution" in the menu) next to the distribution.

Order distributions

The sorting of the distributions is determined by their order (if present). This order can be assigned manually during editing. Alternatively, in the subpanel of the dataset, it is possible to arrange the distributions and assign their order automatically.

Selecting "Order Distributions..." in the menu opens a dialog, where the distributions can be rearranged with the mouse using "drag and drop".

Clicking "Save" applies the changes and reassigns the order automatically.

Tooltip

If required, it is possible to specify that automatic ordering should start at a certain number.
